baby booties, hook No. 1.6

Description

Cast on a chain of 10 air loops (turquoise yarn), and on this chain knit an oval measuring 6*9 cm.

Next (with the same thread)
1st row: tie the entire sole with half-columns without any increments
2nd row : knit in half-columns that are turned 90 degrees to the half-columns of the previous row (sole) so that the chain of half-columns of the previous row remains visible from the outside.
3-4 rows : Single crochet without increasing in each stitch of the previous row.
5-6 rows
7 row : using turquoise thread, single crochet without increasing in each loop of the previous row.
8 row : single crochet with white thread without increasing in each loop of the previous row.
Next, knit the toe with the tongue and the sides with the heel separately.
Start knitting the sock with white thread. To make the sock voluminous, tie it with two rows of half-columns (see rows 1-2), turned 90 degrees to each other. In the 1st row of the sock, knit 4 single crochets in the middle, connect the last stitch at the end of the row to the sock binding with a half-stitch. In the 2nd row, knit 7 single crochets from the 4 previous rows, at the end attach to the binding with a half-stitch. In the 3rd row, knit 10 double crochets, fasten similarly to the previous rows. In the 4th row, knit 13 single crochets. Next, knit another 6 rows without increments with turquoise thread, attaching to the harness. Next, from the 11th to the 17th rows, continue knitting the tongue, without attaching it to the binding, reducing to 11 single crochets. Tie the tongue from the base with white thread. To round the tongue, continue tying with white thread in the next two rows along the top of the tongue (6 single crochets and 4 single crochets, respectively).
Next, using a single piece of turquoise thread, continue knitting the sides and heels for 12 rows, decreasing one stitch on each side in every 4th row. Also, at the beginning and end of each 4th row (4th, 8th, 12th), stepping back from the edge by 2 single crochets, make holes for the lace, replacing two double crochets with 2 chain stitches. Tie the sides on all sides with single crochets using white thread. Tie laces from white thread - chains of air loops measuring 50 cm. Thread the laces into the sneakers.

How to crochet booties

Unlike the various options for knitting booties with knitting needles, when crocheting, two parts clearly stand out in the product - the sole and the top. And knitting begins from the sole. <<< Начало вязания показано на схеме красной стрелкой - 15 воздушных петель плюс одна для подъема ряда. Длина цепочкм примерно от оснований пальцев до середины пятки ребенка.
Next are half stitches (very tight knitting, ideal for soles), single crochets and single crochets. Single crochet stitches, drawn as a fan in the diagram - these are two stitches knitted from one loop. The last row of the sole is tied with a row of half-columns (60 half-columns).
The sole can also be knitted with single crochets. In the diagram, in the places where the sole is rounded, 7 double crochets are knitted from one air loop (see explanation below).

Knitting the top of the booties is the most fun part of the job. Here are several options for the design of the top (photo from the Internet, free translation by the author):

You can link it like this.

Here in the pattern, the top of the booties is knitted from the top, from the ankle to the sole, and then sewn (or tied) to it; start - red arrow. Single crochets. In the middle part of the top there is an increase to widen the toe, from one column - two on both sides of the center front. The knitting ends with the same 60 stitches, which is equal to the perimeter of the blue sole in Fig. above.
The booties are tied with a border of single crochet stitches and air loops (light blue in the diagram).

In practice, they usually knit from the sole upwards: without tearing off the thread, on 60 loops of the sole, knitting the top in a circle begins: 6 rows of 60 stitches, 10 rows with a decrease in the central part of the top on both sides of the middle, two loops together. Next, 2 rows with single crochets, 1 row - three tbsp. double crochet, 1 chain (this is a row with holes for pulling the lace), 2 rows with single crochets, the last row is a border.

You can knit these shoes.

Knit from the sole in the round (in the diagram - double-sided knitting, front and back. In this case, the back is then sewn together. The pattern is taken from a French magazine, but for some reason in the West they don’t like to knit in the round). Decrements on the toe are made evenly along the entire front according to the pattern (out of two single crochets - one).

To add height to the back of the shoe, several additional rows are knitted. The strap is a side chain of air loops and 1-2 rows of single crochets.

The shoes are tied with a contrasting thread.

Let's look at the principle of knitting another pair of booties.

The diagram above shows the front part of the booties. The red arrow and air loops are the beginning of knitting, located at the instep of the leg.

There are generally 3 ways of knitting:
- knit the parts according to the pattern, everything separately, then sew (tie, kettle);
- knit according to the pattern, but at the end of each row, decrease a column and pick up the corresponding column of the sole. Thus, the toe of the shoe will be immediately tied;
- finish the last row of the sole in the middle of the front plus three columns. Turn the knitting and knit 6 stitches. Turn the knitting, air loop to lift the row, knit two stitches from one stitch, then 5 more stitches to the end of the row - a total of 7 stitches in the row. When knitting the last stitch, pick up the fourth loop of the sole from the center. Turn knitting. Again 1 column for lifting, 2 columns from one, etc.
As a result, when you knit until the leg is raised, you should get 20 loops. We break the thread.

The back of the shoe is knitted with a set of stitches around the perimeter of the sole - bottom pattern. The upper part of the heel is reduced by 4 posts for a better fit to the heel.

Some useful tips on the technique of crocheting booties:

How to knit 7 double crochets from an air loop to round the sole

How to knit two double crochets from one.

How to knit one single crochet out of three (can be used to tighten the tops of shoes, traces in the center of the front part)

One double crochet out of five.

Knitting the top of the bootie sock will look something like this:

The first row of the side of the booties is knitted in columns, inserting the hook not under both “braids” of the previous row, but only under the “back” (the face of the work is looking at you). The remaining part of the braid will be needed when finishing.
If you want the sidewall to be at an angle of 90 degrees to the sole, then the hook is inserted under the very column of the last row of the sole.

Now that we have figured out the principles of crocheting booties, I hope you will not be scared by this “Chinese letter”:

Enlarge diagram
Do you recognize the oval below in the diagram? This is the sole. On the top left is the front of the shoes, on the right is the back, the strap goes to the top.
The main thing here is to combine letter designations:
we tied the sole and to point D we continue knitting according to the pattern of the toe of the shoe (point C is the middle of the front). The back is knitted in single crochets from the point opposite D to point A.

And these wonderful booties are knitted from four squares.
The squares are knitted separately, then sewn together, or, as when knitting shawls, they are picked up together when knitting the last row of the square.
At the bottom of the diagram is the binding of the upper part of the booties - a place for pulling the lace. The booties are tied after the final assembly of the squares.
Please note that the dimensions of the sole are indicated: 4.5 - a chain of air loops, 1.5 - heel, toes - 2 units. The length of the sole corresponds to the length of 2.5 squares. When increasing the size of the booties, it is necessary to increase the squares.

Explanations for this diagram.

From top to bottom: sole, heel. Bottom left is a strap.
And finally, the most interesting part - the toe of the bootie - is at the bottom right. It begins with a set of air loops (there are 14 of them in the diagram). Knitting with single crochets.
1 row(number 1 at the very bottom of the figure) - 14 columns, 1 v/p for lifting a row. Turn the knitting over.
2nd row- 12 stitches, on the thirteenth we knit two from one, 1 stitch, 1 v/p for lifting a row.
3rd row- 1 tbsp., from one tbsp. two, 2 stitches, attached with a half-column to the fifth loop of the second row, 1 ch, turn the knitting over.
4 row- one half-column, 2 columns, two from one column, 1 column, 1 v/p for lifting.
And further according to the scheme until 10th rows inclusive we knit shortened rows.
In the diagram there are black circles - half-columns, white - air loops.

11 row- we knit fifteen stitches until connected to the first row (as if we were collecting all the shortened rows 3-10), 5 chain stitches for pulling the strap, 2 stitches.
12-20 rows- 22 columns each. In the 20th row, don’t forget to make 5 chain stitches for the second hole for the strap.
Rows 21-28- shortened rows with a decrease in the number of columns.
21 row- 1 columns, 1 half-column. We turn the knitting over.
22 row- 1 single column, 1 half column, 3 columns, 2 columns together, 1 column. We turn the knitting over.
etc. according to the scheme.
Row 29- 1 chain stitch, 1 stitch, 2 stitches together, 12 stitches. Turn the knitting over.
30 row- 14 columns.
The toe of the bootie is finished, we sew it to the sole.
The back of the booties - we collect stitches along the rest of the sole and knit, like the blue booties on this page above.
The strap is knitted separately.

Another work by Noskova Nadezhda. I found a model of baby booties on the Internet. They knit very simply.

You will need yellow and brown thread. First, I cast on 5 air loops and combined them into a circle. Then I knitted several chain stitches with a single crochet into the circle and gradually began tying them with chain stitches without a crochet, adding several stitches in each row. Knitted into a circular frame to fit the foot. The top can be knitted or crocheted, whichever is more convenient for you))) We embroider the eyes, separately knit the antennae and ears, and sew them on.

To knit booties you will need: light blue Phildar yarn (50% cotton, 50% acrylic, Bulgaria) 140 m/50 g. 1 skein White bulky yarn for tying, hook No. 2.5.
Booties size: from 6 months.

Sole: knit a chain of 13 chain stitches (ch) and tie it in a circle with three circular rows of single crochet stitches (sc) In this case, you need to make increases along the edges (3 stitches in each row for a total of 9 stitches on the toe and heel ). On the toe, knit the 6th row with double crochets.

Backdrop: knit a chain of 10 ch and knit 23 rows with single crochets (sc). 5 rows before the end (after the 18th row), knit a chain of 19 ch to knit a strap. Knit 1 row of sc (19 stitches). At the junction of the strap with the back, knit two loops together (insert the hook into the loop of the bottom row and pull the thread, insert the hook into the next loop, pick up the thread and pull it through the loops on the hook). Knit the 19th and 20th rows of the backdrop, knit 2 rows of the strap and repeat decreasing 1 loop. This is necessary to form the inclination of the strap. Knit two more rows of the back (21st. 22nd rows) and 2 rows of the strap.

At its end, knit a button loop from 3 ch. Knit the last row of the backdrop.

Upper part of booties: start knitting from 6 middle loops of the toe sole. Knit 1 row (out of 6 sc). In the next row, knit 2 stitches from each stitch of the bottom row. Next, knit the top piece separately from the sole. In the 3rd and 5th rows, add 1 stitch from each edge. From the 6th to the 13th rows knit without increases. In the middle of the 8th row, knit a chain of 11 ch to form a membrane. Knit 1 row of the membrane and knit the 8th row of the top piece. Knit the remaining rows of the toe simultaneously with knitting the membrane, making 1st decrease on each side at the point of their connection. At the end of the web, knit two loops of 3 ch to thread the strap.

Flower: wind 2 turns of white thread around your finger and tie it with 8 sc. Tighten the end of the thread, making a tight core. Tie it in a “crawfish step” (knit 9 sc in the opposite direction - from left to right).

Assembling: tie the edges with white yarn. Connect them to each other, tying them at the same time.

Booties are the cutest item of clothing for a newborn. Crocheting booties will not take you much time, but will bring you a lot of pleasure. Here you will find a description of knitting, as well as patterns and patterns for knitting booties. If you haven’t crocheted booties yet, don’t be afraid, get started, a step-by-step description for beginners will help you cope with this work.

Knitting materials

  • 50 grams of turquoise “Iris” cotton threads
  • 15 grams white
  • 40 cm white satin ribbon 0.5 cm wide
  • hook number 3

We always knit the booties in two threads. It is better to knit two booties from two balls at the same time. This allows you to get a more even knitting.

Booties for the smallest babies (0-3 months) have a sole length of 9 cm.

Knitting soles of booties

Let's start knitting the sole.

Experienced needlewomen can use the sole knitting pattern

And for beginner knitters, I describe the knitting process in detail:

We collect a chain of 13 air loops and plus 3 air loops for lifting.

1st row: from the 5th loop from the beginning of the chain we knit 11 double crochets. In the last loop of our chain we knit 5 double crochets, then 11 double crochets, then in one loop we knit 4 double crochets and end the row with a connecting loop, i.e. join the last loop to climb

2nd row: 3 air loops for lifting, 11 double crochets, 5 times 2 double crochets in each loop, 11 double crochets, 4 times 2 double crochets in each loop, 1 double crochet, end the row with a connecting loop

3rd row: 3 air loops for lifting, 12 double crochets, 8 times 2 double crochets in each loop, 13 double crochets, 8 times 2 double crochets in each loop, 1 double crochet, end the row with a connecting loop

The result is a sole like this

From the second ball we knit the second sole in the same way. They should turn out the same. If this is not the case, then you are knitting either tighter or looser, and you will have to re-bandage

Now we need to move on to knitting the sides, that is, move from horizontal knitting to vertical and strengthen the sole. To do this, we knit one row with single crochets and increments, grabbing not by the base loop, but wrapping around the column of the previous row. Let's look at the photos:

We insert the hook from the inside out from right to left,

we twist the column of the previous row,

pick up the thread

and pull it out to the wrong side of the sole,

knit with a single crochet

And so on until the end of the row.

Knitting bootie sides

Now we knit a border - these are two rows of single crochets and without adding. Don’t forget to end each row with a connecting loop, and start the next row with 2 lifting loops. This is how the “bath” turned out

Knitting the toe of booties

Fold the bootie in half lengthwise and find the center. To the left and right of the center we put 15 loops aside and mark with a paper clip or thread. From this mark we knit the toe.

We knit 1 row: 3 air loops for lifting, 4 double crochets, knit 2 double crochets together 10 times, 5 double crochets. Rotate knitting

We knit row 2: 3 chain stitches for lifting, 4 double crochets, knit 2 double crochets together 5 times, 5 double crochets. Rotate knitting

We knit the 3rd row: 3 chain stitches for lifting, 4 double crochets, 1 chain crochet, 5 double crochets

This is how we got the toe

Knitting a bootie top

Using connecting loops (2 - 3 pieces) we move to a colored thread or paper clip, knit one row of double crochets in a circle

Then we knit the top of the booties according to the pattern.

You need to knit booties for yourself or as a gift, but you don’t know where to start. Let's look at the question “how to crochet booties” together.

Choosing yarn for knitting booties

To start, we recommend choosing a yarn. To knit booties for the summer or for the home, cotton yarn with acrylic, bamboo or thin acrylic is suitable. Don't be alarmed by the fact that acrylic is not a natural fiber. Booties knitted from one piece of cotton will most likely be rough and hard. Booties with the addition of acrylic hold their shape better, they are soft and tactilely pleasant. For the cold season, it is better to choose wool with acrylic or thicker acrylic.

Suitable yarn for knitting summer booties YarnArt Jeans:

  • composition: 55% cotton, 45% acrylic
  • length: 160 m, skein weight 50 g
  • The yarn is soft, many bright colors.

I myself knitted booties for spring from this yarn. Still a good yarn YarnArt Baby(100% acrylic, 150m/50g).

For knitting winter booties, I chose the yarn Alize Baby wool or Alize Baby Wool Batik:

  • it has a nice composition: 40% wool, 20% bamboo, 40% acrylic
  • thread length: 175 m
  • skein weight 50 g.

I love hook No. 3-3.5, so I chose these particular threads for knitting booties. In addition, Turkish yarn has a good price/quality ratio. She has many beautiful colors. And wool often makes children’s skin itchy; I never buy pure wool yarn for booties.

How to take measurements for knitting booties

We’ve chosen the yarn, now let’s think about how to knit the booties themselves. First you need to take measurements:

  • foot length
  • possible width.

Once I was knitting booties for my friend’s daughter, so as not to make a mistake with the size, I asked her to measure the length of the baby’s foot. The girl's foot is not wide, rather standard. I added 1-2 cm to the length of the foot. Babies do not wear booties on their bare feet, and they grow quickly. You can add 3 cm if you expect to wear booties for six months/year.

If you do not have the opportunity to measure the length of your child’s feet, then we provide an average table of foot size depending on age:

  • from 0 to 3 months foot length - 9-10 cm
  • from 3 - 6 months foot length 10-11 cm
  • from 6 - 12 months foot length 11-12 cm
  • from 12 - 18 months foot length 12-13 cm
  • from 18-24 months foot length 13-14 cm

The length of the foot should be measured from the most protruding point of the heel to the protruding point of the big toe.

How to crochet a sole for booties

Booties consist of a foot, sides, toe and shaft, if you are not knitting summer booties - sandals, but something more or less similar to socks. Knitting starts from the sole. I chose the pattern that, in my opinion, is best suited for a narrow or standard leg. If the baby is chubby, then it is better to choose an oval pattern, without narrowing the heel.

Several knitting patterns:

knitting pattern for bootie soles using single crochet stitches

pattern for knitting bootie soles with double crochets

diagram of bootie soles with extension

oval bootie sole pattern

another version of the bootie sole pattern

It is also worth considering that the higher the columns, the looser the fabric. I like to knit bootie soles using single crochets or half double crochets. The sole needs to be knitted in two copies, 1 for each bootie. Or 2 if you need a thicker, warmer sole.

The length of the sole is equal to the length of the child’s foot plus 1-2 cm. We chose a sole pattern and knitted 2 identical copies. Next we knit the side of the booties - 2-3 rows of double crochets along the edge of the sole, without increases or decreases.

Tip: for the border, knit double crochets behind the back half-loop of the stitches of the last row of the sole. Then you will have a clear outline of the edge of the sole. Along this edge you can beautifully tie the sole.

How to crochet the toe of a bootie

Now we need to choose the method in which we will knit the toe of the bootie. This can be a separate part, which is subsequently crocheted to the side, or knitted in one piece. I love the all-knit toe.

Using these patterns you can knit the toe as a separate element:

In this model, the toe is knitted in the shape of a flower:

This is a diagram of a one-piece knitted toe:

If you knitted the toe using the first method, then you need to attach it to the side using single crochets or connecting stitches. Next we move on to knitting the boot.

How to knit a bootie bootie

When the toe is ready, you need to knit the boot. The opening for the boot is approximately half the length of the foot in width. The boot can be knitted with a double crochet or double crochet:

If you want to make holes in the boot for a ribbon or ties, then do not forget to tie them. When knitting with ticks, there is no need to make holes. But if you chose double crochets, then tie the holes as shown in the diagram:

The booties have been knitted, now they need to be decorated

The easiest way to tie booties is the crayfish step:

But we can offer more interesting schemes. Don't forget that we also wanted to tie the sole around the edge:

You can decorate booties with embroidery, knitted flowers, beads, buttons and various other ways.

If you learn how to knit the simplest patterns, you can get creative and turn them into funny little animals (monkeys, bunnies, lambs, bears), interesting fruits (strawberries, apples). You can also just beautifully tie the edge or decorate the socks, which will go beautifully, for example, with a headband and, voila, a chic set is ready.

Lightweight models for the summer or for home can be made with felt soles.

For this model (sole size 10 cm) you need soft yarn (100% acrylic, 50 g / 200 m) in 2 colors.

We dial 12 v.p. + 3 v.p. (total 15 ch), insert the hook into the 4th loop of the chain from the hook and knit 3 rows according to this pattern.

Having knitted three rows, we move on to another color.

4th row - in each column (back) we knit a single crochet loop. The result should be 56 loops.

We knit the 5th one in the same way. The result will be two rows knitted with white thread.

Again we switch to blue. We start by knitting a “bump” (2 chain stitches, after 2 unfinished stitches, then one chain stitch).

We skip one loop and make a “bump” again.

So knit a whole row and close. We knit the 7th in the same way as the 6th.

We close the row and break the thread. Having marked the middle, we begin to knit the toe with a white thread.

Insert the hook into the back wall of the loop and knit a white “bump” from two unfinished loops.

Turn it over and also knit “bumps”.

There should be 7 pieces, after which you need to connect them.

Finish the row in the same way.

2 more rows and switch to blue again.

We decorate the edge by knitting three air loops for each column.

Knitted sneakers for children

Handmade Adidas sneakers will be appreciated by true gentlemen.

For this “masterpiece” you will need thin white cotton yarn (100% cotton, 50g/150m), hook number 2 and 3 hours of free time.

We start with the sole. The sole is knitted according to this pattern.

The sock is knitted from the front 30 stitches. 1 row - single crochets, 2 - double crochets (3 loops and one top). There should be 10 loops left.

We connect all 10 columns, move the thread to the beginning of the row and knit 2 rows of single crochets.

7 rows - double crochets.

The tongue ends with three rows of white thread. Then you can tie the product around the perimeter.

We embroider the logo and thread the lace. Ready!

DIY summer sandals for a child

If you love children's knitted sandals for the summer, by learning how to knit soles, you can come up with a lot of ideas and create a large number of interesting models.

Fold the sole in half and find the middle at the toe. The middle should be 5 columns. Tie a thread with a regular knot and tie 13 air loops, then attach it to the opposite side of the spout using a half single crochet (dc). Next, knit according to pattern 2 (only what is indicated in blue and dark red). The nose should look like in Fig. 3. Do not break the thread. In the last row you attached 2 half-columns bn to the sole.

Further:
1st row: 3 vp, attach them to pst.b.n. to the strap (skip 3 dc). Work 34 treble stitches. n. and also attach pst. b. n. to the strap.
2nd row: 1 vp and the entire row of st. b.n. = 35 st.b.n.
3rd row: Again 3 v.p. and 34 tbsp. With. n., 4 v.p., 3 tbsp. S.N. in the middle of the strap, ch 4
Next is a row of arches for the ribbon. 5 v.p., st.s.n. through 1 st.s.n. previous row. Senior s.n., 1 v.p., st.s. n. repeat the entire row in a circle.
Start the next row with pst. b.n. in an arch, 4 vp, dc, 1 v. p., senior senior sciences again in the arch. And so the whole series.

Children's shoes for girls (crochet)

Christening dresses or an openwork hat will look chic when paired with crocheted shoes with beads. Make them into ballet shoes or moccasins. The most important thing is that the yarn is soft and pleasant for a child’s feet.

Crochet booties for beginners with step-by-step description (crochet).

You can take any cotton threads you like and a hook No. 2.5. We start with the sole (look at the diagram below).

If you have a hard time navigating the diagram, I suggest you go into more detail at this stage.

We cast on 17 air loops (we start knitting from the 3rd).

1st row: 7 single crochets, 7 single crochets, 7 single crochets in the last stitch (and continue to knit on the other side of our chain), 7 single crochets, 7 single crochets, 4 single crochets in the last stitch, connecting stitch .

2nd row: 3 chain stitches, double crochet in the same base. 14 double crochets, (2 double crochets from one loop) - 5 times, 16 double crochets, 3 double crochets from one loop, 4 double crochets from one loop, 3 double crochets from one loop, connecting stitch.

3rd row: 3 chain loops, 15 double crochets, (2 double crochets from one loop, double crochet) - 2 times, (3 double crochets from one loop) - 2 times, (double crochet, 2 double crochets double crochet from one loop) - 2 times, 16 double crochets, (2 double crochets from one loop, double crochet) - 2 times, (3 double crochets from one loop) - 2 times, (double crochet, 2 double crochet from one loop) - 2 times, connecting stitch.

Row 4: chain stitch, tie the entire row with single crochets, ending with a connecting stitch.

Row 5: 3 chain stitches, knit the entire row with single crochets behind the back half-loop of our sole, ending the row with a connecting stitch.

Row 6: 3 chain stitches, knit the entire row with double crochets, ending with a connecting stitch.

Let's move on to the white thread.

7th row: 3 chain stitches, 15 double crochets, (we knit 2 double crochets together with a common top) - 10 times, finish the row with double crochets, ending with a connecting stitch.

8th row: 3 chain loops, 14 double crochets, (we knit 2 double crochets together with a common top) - 6 times, finish the row with double crochets, ending with a connecting stitch.

We make 5 connecting loops. We unfold our bootie and knit from the inside.

Row 9: 3 chain stitches, 27 double crochets.

For the strap we cast on 20 air loops. Row 10: we knit a double crochet into the fourth loop from the hook, 2 chain loops, skip 2 stitches of the previous row and knit 2 double crochets, knit 2 chain loops again - skip 2 stitches of the previous row and knit with double crochets to the end of the row.

It’s almost ready, so I suggest tying the product with single crochets.

Sew on a bow, buttons and beads.

Booties are the best, practical and comfortable shoes for babies who are not yet walking. Knitting booties is not difficult. Beginning needlewomen can take advantage of a step-by-step master class with a detailed description, photos and videos of crochet.

The choice of yarn depends on the style and seasonality of the booties.

When creating shoes for a small child, you should pay attention to natural yarn or hypoallergenic synthetics:

  1. If you need warm winter booties, then it is better to choose soft wool. It should not “bite” or fluff too much in order to be comfortable and safe for the baby. It is worth considering that when crocheting the fabric is thicker than when knitting, so the yarn should not be too bulky. The optimal thickness is 200-400 m/100 g.
  2. Has good “winter” properties bulky synthetic yarn(for example, plush or imitating fur). Soft and cozy booties are made from baby acrylic.
  3. Suitable for light summer booties cotton based yarn, not strong torsion, with a thread thickness of 300-500 m/100 g. Manufacturers also offer microfiber made from synthetic fibers with properties identical to cotton (for example, Diva yarn).
  4. For elegant openwork booties, the best option would be yarn with viscose or silk added. This yarn itself looks decorative, and in an openwork pattern it enhances its beauty and elegance.

Bootie sizes by month

The size (foot length) of booties can be found in the table.

Child's age

Foot length

0-3 months 7-9 cm
3-6 months 9-10 cm
6-9 months 11-12 cm
9-12 months 12-13 cm

Booties usually take the place of shoes rather than socks, so they should be bulky enough to fit comfortably over rompers or tights. The length of the sole should be at least 1 cm greater than the length of the child’s foot.

The width of the sole of the bootie is 60% of the length, and the height of the instep is about 30-40% of the length. The cuff should be elastic or have a fastener (often a ribbon is used, threaded along the entire length of the cuff, and brought forward to tie).

Classic baby booties: diagram, step-by-step description

Booties for beginners with a step-by-step description, crocheted with medium thickness in one day. An example of knitting will be considered for size 1-3 months (sole length 10 cm), yarn 250-300 m/100 g. The result is warm, cozy boots with a laconic design. The level of complexity of the work is minimal. These booties are the basis for knitting most other types.

For the sole you need to cast on 10 chain stitches of the base and 3 chain stitches. instead of the first column. Next, knit in a circle (around the base chain), without changing direction, using double crochets.

For the first row, the hook is inserted into the first warp loop (4 from the hook), and double crochets are knitted on all loops. From the last loop (at the turn) you should knit 5 dc. from one loop of the base. Continue knitting on the warp loops, but on the second side (the twist is inserted not under the half loops, but under the bow between the loops of the chain). 5 dc are also knitted from the last loop of the row. turn.

The first and last columns are connected by a connecting column:

  • At the beginning of each row, instead of the first stitch, 3 chain stitches are knitted. Lifting.
  • In the second row, on 5 turning columns, the 1st dc is knitted.
  • In the third row, on each of the 5 turning columns, 2 dc are knitted. from one loop of the base.
  • Next, the sole needs to be knitted to the desired size, evenly making 5 increments on turns in each row.

To lift, you should knit 4-5 rows of treble crochets without increasing in a circle. The result is an oval cup. Its volume should be sufficient for the baby’s legs. For a clearer border of the sole of the bootie (for beginning needlewomen it is better to use a diagram with a step-by-step description), the first row of the rise can be crocheted from embossed posts.

Embossed columns require a certain skill:

  • To form the toe, further knitting continues on loops of one turn, and 1/3 warp loops (straight stitches) on each side of the turn. They need to be counted. There will be as many rows as there are at the sole.
  • At the end of knitting the toe, there should be 5 loops left. To calculate the cuts, the difference between the starting and ending stitches (here 5) is divided by the number of rows. The resulting number of loops must be reduced in each row. To do this, you should knit several dc. into one.
  • The remaining 5 stitches are knitted into one. To do this, a crochet hook is inserted into the first loop of the base. The yarn over is knitted, but the stitch is not knitted (a loop remains on the hook). Another yarn over is made and knitted from the second loop of the base. And so 5 times.
  • The resulting 5 loops are knitted into one. It turns out 5 columns knitted with one vertex. The result should be a semicircular toe.

The next stage: knitting the top of the bootie: the simplest even for a beginner and does not require a detailed description.

All double crochets are crocheted in a circle to the desired height. The beginning of each row is 3 vp. lifting, at the end there is a connecting column. The work is ready.

Openwork booties

Openwork booties are best knitted from thin cotton yarn. The sole is knitted according to the description suggested above. For thin yarn, the number of initial loops and rows for all elements must be increased in proportion to the thickness of the thread. To knit a bootie rise, it is better to choose an openwork pattern of “shells” or “arches”.

You can knit the rise as in the basic description, and use the openwork to knit the toe and top.

A toe knitted as a separate element will also look beautiful: a flower or a geometric pattern. The top of the bootie usually consists of two elements: a stitch for a decorative ribbon and a row of openwork “shells”. To form a convenient stitch for the ribbon, double crochets are knitted on every second loop of the base, and one chain loop is knitted between the stitches.

Openwork booties are less elastic. It is better for beginning craftswomen to use a step-by-step description of how to crochet a specific model of booties. In this case, the ribbon will serve as ties, fitting the shoe along the leg.

Booties-slippers

Booties-slippers differ from basic ones in the absence of a top, so even an inexperienced needlewoman can cope with the task. You can simplify knitting a toe (as in the step-by-step description of the basic model) by replacing it with a decorative crocheted element.

To make the slippers safe, you need to sew a leather insole to the knitted sole with the rough side out or embroider several anti-slip elements on the sole with silicone (rubber) thread. Another option for knitted house slippers is prefabricated models of 6 or 8 square elements, sewn according to a specific pattern. This version of booties is the simplest of all.

Knitted sneakers for boys

Knitted sneakers will definitely attract the attention of others: they are original and at the same time practical. Booties-sneakers look more interesting if knitted from yarn of two colors, for example, a light sole and a denim top.

In order for the sneakers to keep their shape well, it is better to knit them with single crochets or half crochets:

  • The sole is knitted with a light thread according to the standard pattern, the thread is secured and broken.
  • The rise is knitted with yarn of the main color. The first row of instep is knitted perpendicular to the sole, this creates an effect like a real shoe.
  • It is better to knit the toe with the main pattern.
  • Next, for the tongue, only the loops of the front part of the bootie, which is located above the toe, need to be knitted with a separate fabric. And the fabric of the main part of the sneaker should be started and finished overlapping on the side surface of the nose.
  • The sides of the bootie top should almost meet in front to create the clasp effect of a real shoe.
  • Laces (the laces can be thin ribbons, a tight chain of air loops or braid) can be threaded through the holes of a knitted fabric or knitted along a series of arches of air loops on the sides of the sneaker.

Knitted sandals

For light sandals, you should choose thin yarn made from natural fibers (cotton, linen) or microfiber. For such shoes, the sole should be knitted with almost no increase in size, since the light open bootie has an exact fit on the leg. The peculiarity of sandals is that the instep is not knitted with a closed fabric. The sole and heel are knitted separately.

Having finished knitting the backdrop at the desired height, do not break the thread. Starting from the corner of the backdrop, a chain of air loops is assembled for one strap. To knit a strap in the opposite direction, first make a loop at the end for the button, and then use single crochets to go back along this chain.

Without tearing off the thread, knit a row of stitches along the back to the second side and knit the second strap in the same way. The thickness of the strap should be knitted in straight and reverse rows. You can sew a button on it without a loop. The sock is usually knitted in the form of an arc or a figured element of a suitable size.

Summer booties for girls

Mom can knit booties for special occasions for little princesses herself. You will need elegant yarn, for example with silk, viscose or soft lurex and a suitable hook. It is better to knit in single crochet stitches, so the work will look neater. The shoes must fit well on the feet, so the soles are knitted exactly to size.

To make the booties look neater, the transition to the rise does not need to be emphasized in any way: to rise, simply continue to knit single crochets.

From the 2-3rd row of lifting, you need to start reducing the number of columns in the toe area, 2 columns in each row. The rest of the rise (sides and back) is knitted in a straight line, without decreases. Knitting should be completed when the shoe is the desired height.

To knit a strap, the thread is attached to the side of the heel, and a chain of air loops is knitted so long that it clasps the baby’s leg. At the end you need to make a buttonhole. The strap and backdrop are tied with straight and reverse rows of posts. You need to sew a button on the second corner of the backdrop. Shoes can be decorated with bows or beads.

Winter version in the form of a boot

Warm functional booties can be knitted in the form of boots. The yarn should be chosen bulky, from wool or acrylic. The boot is knitted in the same way as classic booties. Only in this case it is necessary to make a higher boot.

Booties for beginners with a step-by-step description of crochet are suitable for both boys and girls.

To keep the child warm, the boot should be close to the leg. And to make it comfortable for mom to put on booties, the top of the boot should be either elastic or have a fastener.

Ballet booties

Ballet booties are knitted in the same way as shoes, only without a back and fastener. You need to knit the sole and instep, reducing the number of loops in the front to form the toe. For a better fit on the leg, you can choose elastic yarn (special elastic torsion or with the addition of elastane).

New Year's booties

Bright booties in a New Year's design will be an excellent accessory for a photo shoot. The booties are knitted according to the classic pattern and then decorated.

There are many options:

  1. Red or green booties with fluffy white trim, decorated with small white pom-poms.
  2. Red or blue booties with snowflake embroidery.
  3. Red booties with an applique on the nose in the shape of Santa Claus's face.
  4. White booties, decorated in the shape of a snowman. On the upper part you need to embroider a face, and on the lower part (on the nose) sew small dark buttons in a row. Tie the border of the instep and the boot with a mini scarf.

Animal booties

To knit funny booties in the shape of animals or cartoon characters, you need fancy “grass” yarn or other yarn of a suitable texture and appropriate colors. The knitting pattern used is basic. There are no strict rules for implementation; the author's flight of imagination is encouraged.

Hedgehog booties

To knit them you will need medium-stiffness “grass” yarn with a long gray pile. The yarn for the sole and muzzle is acrylic of medium thickness. You will also need eyes and a nose (they can be embroidered with black yarn).
Knit the sole and instep with acrylic yarn according to the pattern for ballet shoes. The boot is “grassed” to the desired height. A nose and eyes are sewn on the muzzle.

Crocodile booties

For crocodiles, smooth yarn of medium thickness is suitable. The sole and instep are knitted as usual. The boot has a “scale” pattern. For the muzzle, you need to sew on the eyes, and embroider 2 nostrils on the nose with black threads.

Teddy bear booties

It is better to knit bear booties in a classic style from plush yarn. 2 small knitted semicircles (ears) should be sewn on the toe closer to the boot. A small circle is knitted from the main yarn or a lighter shade (for the muzzle). It is sewn onto the tip of the toe, adding a little padding polyester for volume. The eyes are sewn on.

You can knit booties from grass yarn with short brown pile. Using smooth yarn of the same color, knit the muzzle and ears and sew on.

Minion Booties

To knit these naughty booties you will need yarn in yellow and blue and leftovers in grey, white and black. You need smooth yarn (cotton or acrylic) with a thickness of 300-450 m/100g. The sole and instep are knitted from yellow yarn. Next, a blue thread is attached and a small cuff is knitted (along the leg).

It is better to make a contrasting blue band around the perimeter of the sole, with several single crochets nearby.

To prevent the binding from tightening the fabric, 1-2 stitches are needed at the corners. Small circles (eyes) are made from white yarn, with glasses next to them in a single crochet in gray or black. You need to sew them to the toes of the booties, and embroider a smile with black thread.

How to safely and beautifully decorate booties?

By decorating even the simplest booties, you can get an elegant, bright and fashionable piece of children's wardrobe. For design you can use ribbons, buttons, appliques, beads. When decorating shoes for a baby, it is important to follow the rule: all elements must be safe (do not have sharp, removable parts). The decor can only be sewn on.

Neither riveted nor glued joints are acceptable for children's clothing.

For boys, you can take figured children's buttons. A sewn-on applique of the appropriate theme will look good. An interesting result can be obtained using the “satin stitch embroidery” technique on a knitted bootie fabric. The technique is simple, even a beginner can do it. You can use any step-by-step embroidery patterns of a suitable size; they look good on crocheted fabric.

Ethnic motifs are at the peak of fashion now. For girls, you can use bows made from grosgrain or satin ribbons as decoration. An ornament made of beads or large beads looks stylish. But embroidery with sequins will not work.
